Hager Fikir Mahber Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to encourage civic engagement in local communities and assist our members develop personal character. We encourage our members to live purpose-driven lives through service to their local communities and encourage each other in developing good character traits by studying the benefits of specific virtues. Our main goal is to inform immigrant communities, particularly Ethiopian-American communities, about the American political process and the benefits of strategic participation in it. Including, the electoral process, political parties, lobbying and other interest groups.

We believe that informed and strategic participation in the American electoral process maximizes the return for a community and plays vital role in upward mobility. The name “Hager Fikir Mahber” is an Amharic word which roughly translates to “Association for the Love of Country.” The name is inspired by two predecessor associations from the 1930s (founded in Addis Ababa) and 1940s (founded in Asmara).
